Behan Nets His First in Tuesday Night Draw with Vassi

Spindles 2 - 2 Vassi Realty

65' - Jad Essoulaimani (P) 82' - Ethan Behan

The Spins returned to action last night against the reigning 2022 CDSL Champions, Vassi Realty.

The boys in *yellow* dominated in possession throughout the first half, creating many chances. However, against the plane of play, Vassi scored the night's first goal, closing the first half at a 1-0 deficit.

Spindles came out in the second half looking to bring the match level. They continued to dominate possession but Vassi held things down defensively.

Eventually, Jaycen Janusz shot from the top of the box, hitting the Vassi defender's hand, and giving the Spins a penalty. New team captain Jad Essoulaimani converted and made it 1-1. His first of the season.

The battle continued, with some more good play by the Spins.

This led to a beautifully weighted through ball by Man of the Match winner Drew Michel to Ethan Behan to take the lead 2-1. The striker's first goal for the club.

Unfortunately, celebrations were short and within a minute Vassi countered and scored the tying goal. Which resulted in a 2-2 draw, rewarding both teams with 1 point.

It was the first match that Vassi has failed to win since before Spindles United joined the CDSL in 2022.

Come out to support the Spins next week as they look to extend their undefeated run. The match is on Tuesday, May 30 at 6 pm at Nott Road Park.
