Taking Down the Champions

Spindles 3 - 1 Vassi

12' - Ryan Breen (Mason Kievit)

19' - Ryan Breen

72' - Ali Aladlouni (Ethan Behan)

Another beautiful Tuesday evening at Nott Road was crowned with a near-perfect Spindles performance.

After 3 years in the CDSL, the Spins finally get all 3 points off 3-Peat Champions Vassi Realty.

Despite losing to Vassi in the final last season, it was clear that Spindles came to play this time.

Starting the match hot, forward Ryan Breen bagged his first this season within the first 15.

A run down the wing gave Mason Kievit a clear opening to play Breen in, leaving just him and the keeper to slot it past. 1-0, 12'.

The press continued for Spindles.

7 minutes after the opener, a corner kick saw a half volley from Luke Geczy hit the bottom of the crossbar.

Luckily, Breen was there to clean it up with a header for his second of the night. 2-0, 19'.

Spindles, pumped and determined, took a quick halftime break and picked up right where they left off in the second.

More press in the Vassi half gave Ethan Behan the opportunity to cross toward Ali Aladlouni.

After a slight deflection off the defender, Aladlouni took it off the volley and curled one in the top left.

The nearly 100 supporters in attendance roared. 3-0, 72'.

Although the attack showed up to finish chances, the defense truly saved the game on multiple occasions.

Goal-line clearances and last-second tackles help the Spins hold a strong lead all match.

The final score ended at 3-1. It is the first time Spindles United has ever beaten Vassi Realty.

Breen was named the Gent's Barber Co. Man of the Match for bagging his first 2 goals of the season.

Another massive thank you to all the supporters that came out. Your commitment is unparalleled.

Thank you to the boys from Rotterdam United SC for supporting their coaches, Mason and John!

We were proud to give our biggest supporter Aiden a win to remember, and a scarf to go along with it.

We will see y'all next week. Same time. Same place.
