Getting Back to Winning Ways

Spindles 2 - 0 Deathwish

40' - John Locicero

64' - Ali Aladlouni (Ammar Singaporewala)

A clean sheet and a brace of goals was enough to secure all 3 points on Thursday for the Spins.

After two straight loses, the pressure was on to break that streak going into the early kickoff.

The Spins started the game with fire, creating chances and shutting down passes through the midfield.

Struggling to make that final pass into the attack.

Until nearly the end of the half, a Spindles corner saw Mason Kievit whip the ball onto the frame and as it was headed off the line. Luckily, John Locicero was there to finish it on the volley. 1 - 0, 40'.

Going into the second half with only a 1-goal lead, Spindles pressed to extend it.

20 minutes in, Ammar Singaporewala who dominated the midfield, pinged a ball out wide to Ali Aladlouni.

Aladlouni calmly settled the ball and chipped the keeper to get his first for Spindles. 2-0, 64'.

Some shaky moments saw Deathwish get a handful of chances in the first and second halfs.

But all the defenders on display came out to play, shutting down every opportunity and helping GK Ryan Taylor hold his first clean sheet.

A convincing win, but not enough on the attack from the Spins as they missed countless chances to rally the score.

Defensively, Singaporewala, and Captains Dan Crook and Cole Rust collectively earned the Man of the Match award, presented by Primeau's Autobody.

However, all 3 points go to Spindles, and they will look to build off this win in a rematch of last season's CDSL Final, on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:15pm vs. Vassi Realty.
